Now in Ceará, it is one of the most refreshing and visually rich routes of the entire crossing, as it deeply explores the water resources and agricultural history of the region. The Complex of Cachoeira do Boi Morto is one of the main attractions. It is a natural leisure area with several waterfalls and natural pools formed by the Ubajara River. The hike begins in the Environmental Protection Area (APA) of Serra da Ibiapaba and, as it gains altitude and approaches the top of the slope, it integrates the protected high-altitude forests surrounding the National Park of Ubajara. Unlike the flat sections and the winding paths of the previous foothills, Section 9 is marked by a significant gain in elevation. The terrain consists of dense, humid forest, composed of steep climbing trails and natural steps formed by roots and rocks worn by water. The ground may have slippery sections due to the high humidity of the hillside vegetation. The landscape transforms completely: the Caatinga and dry forests give way to the Altitude Atlantic Forest (the so-called wet forests or "altitude swamps"). The climate becomes significantly milder and cooler as one ascends the slope. The view opens up to spectacular natural viewpoints, from where one can contemplate the entire sertaneja plain that has been left behind.
