Route

The trail unfolds in the municipality of Ubajara, in the state of Ceará. This section is emblematic because it marks the official entry of the trail into Ceará territory, leaving behind the state of Piauí. The route continues within the limits of the Environmental Protection Area (APA) of Serra da Ibiapaba. Unlike the previous sections with gentle terrain or loose gravel, this section presents a much more robust geography. The soil consists of gravel mixed with large blocks of sandstone and slope formations. The terrain becomes quite rugged and winding, with technical descents and ascents that require heightened attention to foot placement and balance. The visual landscape changes drastically: the open horizons of the hinterland give way to the imposing view of the cliffs of the mountain range. The vegetation becomes denser and greener, with hillside forests and seasonal forests benefiting from the moisture descending from the mountain, providing more shaded areas for the hiker.
