Description

Peró Beach, one of the main beaches in Cabo Frio, has different names/points along its 6.5 km: 1. Peró Beach: it has the international Blue Flag award on its urbanized stretch of 500m, which attests to the quality of the sand, water, accessibility, mobility, and safety. 2. Peró Dunes: located in the middle of Peró Beach, where one can contemplate the beauty of the dunes and the preserved restinga. The main attraction is the Peró Dunes Field, which presents a paradise-like setting with endemic fauna and flora, a lagoon, and marshes in its surroundings, as well as archaeological sites. An excellent location for birdwatching. 3. Pontal do Peró: at the far left corner of the beach next to the rocky shore, there is a trail that leads to the Pontal do Peró neighborhood and/or to the neighboring municipality of Armação dos Búzios.

Route

The trail takes you along Peró beach to the Dune Field of Peró, where you can visit its dunes and the Guriri Lagoon. After the Dune Field, you can take the path between the dunes and the beach. Once you arrive at the left corner of the beach, follow the trail to the left by the rocky shore, where you will find several species of flora and fauna, such as pau-brasil tree and the presence of the mico-leão-dourado (monkey specie only found in Rio de Janeiro) NORTH DIRECTION: – Start on the limit of Praia das Conchas and Morro do Vigia. This leg can be accessed from the urban bus line: 328 – Peró (via Cajueiro). SOUTH DIRECTION: – Start at Pontal do Peró neighbourhood. This leg can be accessed from the urban bus line: B160 - Cabo Frio x Búzios.
