Trecho 05 - Macundu x Parque Arqueológico e Ambiental de São João Marcos (Caminhada - Cavalgada | Volta das Águas de Rio Claro)

Description
This section takes visitors from the center of Macundu, where the Church of São João Marcos is located, to the Visitor Center of the Archaeological and Environmental Park of São João Marcos. It is a path that requires extreme attention and caution from visitors, as it includes over 7 km of paved roads, with just over 1 km on state highway RJ-149. At one point along the route, it is possible to take a flat trail of 11 km (round trip, about three hours) to visit the Ponte Bela, which crosses the Ribeirão das Lajes Reservoir and where ruins can be seen along the way. Inside the Archaeological Park of São João Marcos, before reaching the Visitor Center, it is possible to visit another bridge, the Ponte Nova. Note: The Archaeological and Environmental Park of São João Marcos is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 9 AM to 6 PM. It is not possible to traverse the section within the Park outside of these days and hours.
GuidelinesTips
Attention to the park’s opening hours! Outside of those hours, Ponte Bela is an attraction well worth visiting.
