Travessia dos Campos (Trecho 5 | Trilha Amazônia Atlântica)

Description
The Crossing of the Natural Fields of Tracuateua and Bragança exceeds all expectations and guarantees an unforgettable experience. Known as Campos Bragantinos, the flooded fields of this region are home to buffalo, scarlet ibis, and various other local wildlife species, resembling the flooded fields of Marajó Island. This section of the Amazon Atlantic Trail is widely used by cyclists and offers a breathtaking route in every sense. The high degree of sun exposure makes the Crossing challenging in one of the Campos Bragantinos, but the numerous scenes of lush nature are unmissable rewards! Along the 85 km of the section, there are many attractions for you to explore and enjoy a genuine Amazon immersion. Among the main highlights are: rivers, streams, and natural pools; opportunities for birdwatching; conservation units - the Tracuateua Marine Extractive Reserve and the Caeté-Taperaçu Marine Extractive Reserve; the Quilombola Territories of Torres and América, with their traditional quilombola coffee; and tasting the regional cuisine, which includes products from the extraction of turu, crabs, and artisanal fishing. Just a few kilometers from the Quilombo do América in Bragança is one of the most visited spas in the region, Lagoa Azul, a rare opportunity for a swim in this section of the Amazon Atlantic Trail. The location is famous for its crystal-clear water and has good facilities offering meals prepared by the local community. This is the longest section of the Amazon Atlantic Trail and requires the most effort, as it predominantly follows dirt roads and does not have streams for bathing. Therefore, it is important that you are always stocked with water and protected from sun exposure. To make the activity lighter and even more enjoyable, there is the option to spend the night at the Quilombo de Torres. Come prepared for a challenging yet rewarding adventure in nature.
