Description

Considered semi-heavy, with a 12 km route completed in up to 7 hours of hiking, the Cobiçado x Ventania Crossing is one of the most beautiful trails in the region. It belongs to the Serra dos Órgãos National Park (PARNASO) and is also the 2nd section of the Caminhos Serra do Mar. The main attraction of this hike is the contemplation of the spectacular landscapes of the Serra do Mar, passing by several peaks such as Cobiçado (1678m), Vândalos (1745m), Diabo (1740m), Tridente (1682m), and Alto da Ventania (1560m). Located in the Caxambu neighborhood, on the border between the cities of Petrópolis and Magé, the entire route runs along the ridge of the mountains, presenting the challenge of navigating steep ascents with limited water availability. During the hike, it is possible to see the city of Rio de Janeiro and Guanabara Bay almost in its entirety, as well as various mountains in Petrópolis, such as Alcobaça, Morro do Açu, Maria Comprida, Pedra do Inferno, Pico Maior de Magé, among others. The region's flora is also noteworthy, with its biodiversity; during the crossing, it is possible to observe species of rare beauty, such as orchids and amaryllis, which, depending on the time of year, can be seen in abundance along the trail.
