To access the site, you must be accompanied by a tour guide or a local trail guide (condutor de visitantes) from the municipality, who can be hired on site or at tour agencies in town. The hike to the attraction is considered “easy to moderate,” about 3 km long. Along the way, there are waterfalls, pools, and beautiful scenery to photograph and take in. As with any waterfall, the Buracão's water volume varies with the time of year and the amount of rainfall. To reach the pool, you have to swim across a section of the canyon, using mandatory safety equipment such as a life jacket, or traverse along the rock wall. These options must also be assessed by the guide accompanying the visitors, according to the water volume and the strength of the current.
