Reserva Extrativista Marinha Caeté-Taperaçu

Description
The Marine Extractive Reserve (RESEX) Caeté-Taperaçu covers approximately 42,000 hectares and is located in the municipality of Bragança. The city boasts good infrastructure and a variety of services, along with a wide range of attractions. One of the main tourist destinations is Ajuruteua Beach, about 36 km from the city center, offering numerous inns and restaurants. From the second semester, the beach presents ideal conditions for kitesurfing. For those seeking a quieter beach experience, the Fishermen's Village Beach is a great option, where you can experience the daily practices of local fishermen and engage with the community. A highlight is the feast of Saint Peter, which takes place annually on June 29th with an extensive program of events. For those seeking more paradisiacal options, Canela Island is a must-visit. Inhabited by fishermen and without any tourist infrastructure, the island is home to a large number of birds and is considered the world's largest nesting site for scarlet ibises. The Caeté River, one of the most important rivers in the region, flows through Bragança and is a route for a large fishing fleet that supplies both local and international markets. Watching the sunset along the municipal waterfront, observing the boats, birds, and tides, is a fantastic local attraction. For those looking for more immersive experiences, canoe tours in Hawaiian canoes are available, allowing visitors to explore local communities, enjoy breakfast, purchase ceramic items, and observe the mangroves and city from the river's perspective. December is a great time to visit the city, as it features an extensive program as part of the festivities of Saint Benedict.
