Parque Natural Municipal do Tabuleiro
Description
The Tabuleiro Municipal Natural Park (PNMT) is a Conservation Unit (UC) of Integral Protection located in the municipality of Conceição do Mato Dentro, created by Municipal Decree No. 158/1998 and Municipal Law No. 2063/2013. It encompasses 3,286 hectares of protected grassland and savanna vegetation within the domains of the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest. There is mention of another name for the unit: Ribeirão do Campo Municipal Natural Park, but the former is more commonly cited, including on local signs. This park is contained within the Serra do Intendente State Park (PESI), so various characteristics described for the PESI apply to it, such as the mountainous and rugged terrain, large rocky cliffs, mild climate, and the mosaic of grassland to forest vegetation. The park manages one of the main tourist attractions in Minas Gerais, the Tabuleiro Waterfall, considered the largest in Minas Gerais and the third largest in Brazil.
