Description

Established in 1998, the Fernando de Noronha Marine National Park (PARNA Noronha) covers over 11 thousand hectares of the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago. The main objectives of PARNA Noronha are environmental education for society, support for scientific research, and environmental conservation. The park is home to immense marine and terrestrial biodiversity, being one of the most important areas for the breeding of seabirds in the Atlantic. Additionally, PARNA Noronha features paradise-like beaches, ecological trails, and a rich fauna. In 2001, the Fernando de Noronha National Park was designated a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site for being a sanctuary for many species. Photo: PARNA Noronha.
