Parque Nacional de Anavilhanas

Description
The main feature of Parque Nacional de Anavilhanas is its permanent river islands, which form the second-largest river archipelago in the world, the Anavilhanas archipelago, a landscape of rare dimensions that changes completely with the water level. The Anavilhanas archipelago has approximately 400 islands, 60 lakes and dozens of paranás (river channels) and furos (narrow passages that cross the igapós), forming an enchanting labyrinth that can be enjoyed from many perspectives: from the air, by boat, by day and by night. During the flood season, the islands and much of the vegetation are underwater, allowing trips into the igapós (flooded forests). In the dry season, beaches of various sizes emerge, much loved by locals and visitors alike.
