Parque Nacional das Nascentes do Rio Parnaíba protects the ecosystem of the headwaters of one of Brazil's largest rivers, as well as those of its main tributaries. From May to September, the driest period, it is easier to spot wildlife, but there is water year-round. It is recommended to visit the park with a guide and in a 4x4 vehicle, as there are many marshes.
