Parque Nacional da Lagoa do Peixe is the only national park in the Pampa and is located on the peninsula of the Lagoa dos Patos (RS), on the coast of Rio Grande do Sul. It protects the coastal ecosystems of the Atlantic Forest and the Pampa and is an excellent place for birdwatching. May to August is the best period to see flamingos and sanderlings, while sandpipers and plovers are seen more often between September and March.
