Save

Description
The Núcleo Padre Dória aims to safeguard the historical, cultural, scenic, and environmental values concentrated on the Serra do Mar plateau and covers an area of 26,154.02 hectares spread across the municipalities of Caraguatatuba, São Sebastião, Paraibuna, Salesópolis, Biritiba-Mirim, and Bertioga. Its location harks back to the colonial period and the first settlements established on the plateau. It was in the Serra do Mar massifs that Father Manoel de Faria Dória opened the first route linking the Vila de São Sebastião, on the north coast, to the Vila de São José do Paraitinga, today Salesópolis, on the plateau, bound for São Paulo de Piratininga.
