Parque Estadual Morro do Diabo

Description
Parque Estadual Morro do Diabo was created in 1941 as a reserve and became a park in 1986, with the aim of preserving one of the last areas of plateau forest in the country. The park is located in the Pontal do Paranapanema region, in the municipality of Teodoro Sampaio, 11 km from the town center. It lies 680 km from São Paulo and covers almost 34,000 hectares of inland Atlantic Forest. This protected area is home to important wildlife species, including some threatened with extinction, such as the tapir, white-lipped peccary, howler monkey, puma and jaguar, as well as one of the most endangered primate species in the world, the black lion tamarin, whose largest free-living population in the wild finds refuge here. The park has a Visitor Center, restrooms, a natural history museum with local specimens, kiosks, a soccer field and a playground.
