Description
The park covers approximately 800 hectares and is located in the municipality of Castelo, Espírito Santo. Its name comes from its main feature, the presence of forest fragments of the Atlantic Forest, classified as dense ombrophilous, with high diversity of plant species. Botanical research indicates that the park has a number of endemic and endangered species, whether at the local, state, or Atlantic Forest biome level. Among the rare and threatened plant species in the Conservation Unit, one stands out: the jequitibá-rosa, which was heavily exploited in the past for its wood. Today, it is a symbol of the State of Espírito Santo, with one of its largest individuals protected by the Mata das Flores State Park.
