Parque Estadual do Jalapão

Description
One of the main destinations for ecotourism in Brazil today, the Jalapão region is a place of surprising discoveries. Located in the far east of Tocantins, the region is full of waterfalls, crystal-clear rivers, rapids, large plateaus and rock formations of varied colors and shapes. The PE do Jalapão is part of the Mosaico do Jalapão, the largest protected area in the Cerrado, together with eight other protected areas in three states (Tocantins, Bahia and Piauí). In this setting, the highlights are the fervedouros, natural pools of crystal-clear water in which bathers do not sink, and the golden sand dunes formed by weathering of the surrounding mountains, which has led some to call the place the "Jalapão desert". An invitation to contemplation and adventure. The park is managed by the Instituto Natureza do Tocantins (Naturatins).
