Description
With an area of approximately 21,000 hectares and enormous biodiversity, PED is the oldest state protected area. In 2021, Parque Estadual do Desengano became the first place in Latin America to receive the title of Dark Sky Park, awarded to places of exceptional quality for stargazing and with a protected nighttime environment that values its scientific, natural, educational, cultural, and social heritage. The highest point is Pico do Desengano, at 1,761 meters above sea level
