Description

Just 90 kilometers from the state capital, in the municipality of Valinhos, lies Parque Estadual da ARA, one of the smallest parks in São Paulo state, with an area equivalent to 60 soccer fields. Its origins are tied to land from the former Fazenda Capivari, which was subdivided into several small farms by the state government, through the then Assessoria de Revisão Agrária, and allocated to rural settlements back in the 1960s. Hence its name, an abbreviation of the former government agency. The park is crossed by the Córrego da Fazenda, a tributary of the Capivari River.
