APA do Sana

Description
The Área de Proteção Ambiental do Sana was created in 2001 by Municipal Law 2172. The APA do Sana was created to promote sustainable development based on natural resources, as well as to preserve and protect the wildlife, the plants and the natural beauty, such as the rock formations, waterfalls and vegetation, and to regulate the process of land occupation. The APA is a protected area for the sustainable use of environmental resources and covers the entire district. Considered an ecological sanctuary, with an area of Atlantic Forest and dozens of waterfalls, Sana lies in a valley surrounded by mountains. The Atlantic Forest in Sana is secondary forest, and it is in the middle of this forest that the area's great attraction springs up: the waterfalls.
